Alrest - A Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Set

ALREST is a set built around the world and gameplay of Xenoblade Chronicles 2, a JRPG released by Nintendo, focusing on a kid trying to reach paradise, quirky companions joining him, and more! This set has been a long time project between me and CD_Sern, and we're glad to finally present it to you.

I suppose the best way to showcase this set is to start with the core mechanics of the set.

Introducing Blades!

Every single booster pack of Alrest will contain a Blade, a double-faced legendary creature or planeswalker that can be cast as an Equipment! Almost every Blade has a way to provide a power boost, and they appear at uncommon, rare, and mythic rare.

New Keyword: Aptitude

Aptitude is a new ability word, that cares if a creature has a power buff; enabled by Blades (among other things), Aptitude cards will reward you for increasing their power beyond their base power, appearing at all rarities.

Returning Keyword: Explore

Explore was first used in the Ixalan and Rivals of Ixalan sets, and after so long, it's finally returning, this time in green and white as the primary colors. On top of more traditional designs, the boundaries of Explore's design space was explored in this set.

New Keyword: Salvage

Once you've used up a card with salvage, you can exile it from your graveyard to make a tapped Treasure token that can tap and sacrifice to add one mana of any color. Plenty of self-mills and artifact synergies exist to make it worthwhile!
