Scriptures of Urshad is a top-down set themed around ancient Babylon and the surrounding lands, drawing heavy inspiration from the "cradle of civilization" archetype and the stories and heroes of the early Bible/Old Testament.
Urshad is a world covered in harsh deserts, ruled over by a chaotic god who reshapes both lives and land upon his whim. Despite this, however, the mortal races have risen up from the cradle of civilization and formed empires worthy of other, grander worlds. Lead by legendary figures, great heroes risen to the status of minor gods by the exaltations of their people, the empires of Kanaa, Endak, Sannuria and Azutah lead the fight against the god Anku and his primordial ankulim. Scattered nomad clans, many of whom believe that civilization is the first step down the road to drawing the ire of their god once again, scratch a meagre living among the wasteland.
Together, five of the patron gods of the mortal empires and nomads have cast aside their rivalries and banded together to bring down Anku once and for all, so that their fledgling empires may flourish to new heights unimpeded. They have sensed great things destined from a simple nomad warrior, the young woman Shala Na, and seek to pit her raw potential against a god.
Mechanics:
Civilized
If you manage to assemble an artifact, a creature, and an enchantment, you have achieved civilization! Civilized is a mechanic featured on all types of cards, and is mostly focused in White, Blue, and Black. By assembling all the trappings of civilization, your cards become more powerful, but watch out for Anku's servants who will be sure to try and take them from you!
Assault
The nomads of the deserts endure a hard life, fighting against their harsh environment and the monsters within as well as empires that seek to defeat or enslave them. Assault is a mechanic that represents the strength required to survive such a life, powering up your creatures when they attack and often providing you with an effect that can change the tide of battle.
Discoveries
Discoveries are cards that represent the advancement of civilization, featured in all colors. Each Discovery depicts an aspect of a culture on Urshad, from Writing to Agriculture and many more. Advance your empire with these Discoveries and lead your people into a new age of prosperity!
